In May of this year, we learned that we were chosen as the recipient of the AA Guest Accommodation of the year. This is an award bestowed to the best Bed and Breakfasts, Guesthouses, and Farmhouses in Ireland accredited by the Automobile Association of Ireland. The award was presented AA Director of Consumer Affairs, Conor Faughnan at a ceremony in Adare Manor on Thursday, May 9.

The AA uses highly trained and experienced inspectors to personally visit every AA Hotel, Guesthouse, or Bed & Breakfast establishment that is accredited. The assessments of the standards of hospitality, service, cuisine, facilities and staff are the most exacting in the industry. Winners are selected in recognition of excellence in service and hospitality, as well as a clear demonstration of continuous improvement in the preceding 12-18 months.

Needless to say we were absolutely thrilled to receive this award. The AA is a very long established, and highly respected organisation, and to receive such an accolade is amazing for us and our staff here at Castlewood House.

The award ceremony was held in the beautiful Adare Manor – who were awarded AA Hotel of the Year – and we arrived to the hotel to a lovely welcome from Conor Faughnan, Arwin Foley and Declan Connors, all from the AA head office in Dublin.

We were treated to the most gorgeous Afternoon Tea buffet served by the hotel. We enjoyed catching up with colleagues and even old classmates from our college days, such a Sé Gardiner from Dromoland Castle. Sé was there to collect the award for Hotel Restaurant of the Year.

Huge thanks to GM Paul, and Anita and to all their wonderful staff at Adare Manor, for making us so welcome and for the lovely food. It was so nice for us to bring this award home to our amazing little team at Castlewood and we are so proud of every single one of them.
